My customer has a Dell Laptop running Win2k Pro. The OS takes forever to load and appears to hang at the desktop before it shows the icons (mid load). When I Ctr-Alt-Del to look at the task manager I see a full CPU spike at 100% and taskmgr.exe itself at a 50% to 99% load (jumping all around). I can get into safe mode without the spike but cant for the life of me figuer out why taskmgr.exe will cause the spike, also does it run when I don't use the Task Manager?
Plz help.
BTW... Most of the services timeout and fill the event logs so it is even harder to find out what is causing this. And I can't run NAV in safe mode (customer has full suite) in order to do a virus check. Not sure why.
