Taskmangr and nvcpl.dll in msconfig

My brother was on MIRC and he got a website and clicked it and he downloaded a virus but we can't seem to nail it with any anti-virus things. Ive tried them all they are named taskmangr.exe and nvcpl.dll can anyone help us?

nvcpl.dll file description - NVIDIA Display Properties Extension.

Are you sure it is taskmangr and not taskmgr. Taskmgr is the process that Task Manager runs under. This is a built in utility on Windows 2000/XP/.NET

yes, im sure it's taskmangr because when I hit ctrl+alt+delete it has 2...taskmgr and taskmangr

Taskmangr is an unknown name in windows terms .
If pretty sure this is a trojan of some sort.

Why don't you download "Hijackthis" and post the log here

taskmangr only gets 1 google hit, the tek-tips thread I posted above and I think the symantec link is removal instructions for that trojan.

taskmngr gets a lot of hits and the rapid blaster links I posted above also sounded like they could match up with valiants symptoms.

Yes docdebit i know , i just did't se your post as i was myself was writing and did not refresh.
But its missing the Taskmangr , so it's
possibly another generation of it .

Valiant follow the removal instrauctions from symantec
link that doc gave you.

Give back your results.

And post a hijackthis log so we can check if there is any more nasty stuff.
