Taskmanager does not pop up

I used CTR-ALT-DEL, click task manager, there's one message window poped up, it told me that one err occurs, i checked the log file, it was said like this :
exception number: C0000005(access violation)

any idea about this?

This involves editing the registry, so make sure you create a backup first.
