I am running xp pro with AMD xp2100 on Asus MB and avery 60 seconds the computer will freeze for about 1-2 seconds at which point the cpu monitor in Taskinfo2003 shows a spike in the "hardware interrupts and deferred procedures" part of the monotoring screen.

I am trying to figure what it is tryiong to access. Is it and IRQ number problem or driver incompatibility or what. I could live with it but playing audio or video and having it hang every minute is rather anoying.

Try running in Safe Mode for a few minutes and see if the problem goes away.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
