On a fresh boot, I have about 9 icons on my hidden taskbar. While using Explorer and experiencing a lock up, I noticed all but 3 of the icons went away.
In the past month, I have also noticed occassional extreme slowing of the computer. I have cable network (very fast) and a LAN to another computer 633MHZ which is not affected.
This computer is a Win2000PRO, 2.4Ghz with 500MB RAM and a 80GB HD which is only 10% full.
I use McAfee Anti Virus online and I defrag every week.
Also, yesterday I lost my network to the other computer and the internet. Error message said the cable was unplugged. Not so, I checked it. Also my other computer was still connected to the internet. I also reset both the cable modem and the Router. Both computers have on board NIC's and I am networked using a Linksys Router.
Sorry for the length of this.
This morning I rebooted and got my network back. Then I lost my icons again after IE 6.0 froze.
Is this a warning that something is failing? I just replaced the motherboard and microproccessor 3 months ago.
