Task Scheduler Error 2186

I am attempting to use the task scheduler on start a backup process. I receive the following error message: From Services Could not start the Task Scheduler service on \\Server. Error 2186: The service is not responding to the control function.

From the Event Viewer: Event ID: 7000 Source: Service Control Manager Type: Error
Description: The Task Scheduler service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion

Also
Event ID: 7009 Source: Service Control Manager Type: Error Description: Timeout (120000 milliseconds) waiting for service to connect

I have tried increasing the timeout value. Has anyone encountered and resolved this problem on a Win NT 4.0 Server?

I solved my own problem by changing the "Permissions" on "SchedLog.Txt". The "Everyone Group" should be set to "Full control".
