Task Not Updating

Hi!

I have used project for years for a calendar based solution for a training project. Earlier this year I migrated from 2007 to 2010. I used to be able to move around tasks and they would automatically update with the new date. Now they will move but do not update the date or time. I have been researching for a few hours and have tried just about everything. I have the calculation on button selected. I have tried most everything I can find on sites but it is still not working. Any suggestions?

The default task mode in Project 2010 is manual scheduling. Select all the tasks in the project file (click the Task Name field), click the Task Ribbon and select Auto Scheduled.

Yes, I have tired that and it still is not working. The it set to auto scheduled but still when I drag and drop the Task to a new location it will not change to the new date etc. like it used to in 2007. When dragged it will stay as the date from the "old" location. Any thoughts?

A couple of other things:

Do the tasks have actual start dates? Apply the Tracking table.
When you are dragging and dropping are the links getting re-created? Check File > Options, Schedule category. The default in Project 2010 is the option "Autolink Inserted or moved tasks" is disabled. If you want project to automatically link tasks inserted (or moved) between two tasks with a F to S link, enable that option. It will not link between S to S, F to F, or S to F, or if the F to S has lag or lead.

Yes, that is clicked as well as an option. It was working a few weeks ago and now it isn't. I've tried a lot of the troubleshooting from online searches but still have not been able get it back to the way it was before. Now when I drag and drop or insert a new task it will not update like it did.

When you are moving the tasks around - it appears as though the existing predecessor is not being removed. Are you moving linked tasks?

When you create a new post there is an option at the bottom to Try SugarSync for Free. You could also post to a drop box account or OneDrive account.

Another question - are you moving tasks in the Gantt chart side of the view (moving left right up down) or in the table side (dragging tasks up and down in the list).
