Hi,

I'm new to project en struggeling to get the amount of hours that are assigend to a task distributed to a resource.
After leveling, a task with two subtasks with each 8 hours of work to be done, is being scheduled to 8 hours per day over a period of several weeks, because there are other task for the same resource.

Is it possible to get project to do this right?

Project has done it right.

If you've read other comments of mine, you'll note that I rarely let Project level. For one thing, levelling only pushes out, it never pulls back. For another, the parameters and background information that you set up can have unanticipated consequences.

As a simple attempt at a fix, you could assign specific priorities to those two/three/four tasks that force them to be evaluated with a higher priority and then set Leveling Order to "Priority, standard". You might want to try changing the "Look for overallocations" to "week by week" or even "month by month".

At the end of the day, you will probably find (as many/most Project users find) that taking several hours to do a crude manual levelling is more effective than clicking a few options and then letting Project do the levelling.
