does anyone know how to edit what is in the icon part of the task bar when win 98 launches.

the speaker, clock, virus icons etc.

Go to run and type "msconfig" without the quotes. Go to the appropriate tab and there will be a list of everything that starts at boot up. Uncheck anything you don't want booting. But if you don't know what it is, don't uncheck it or you will cause yourself problems. You can also get to it by going to accesories, system tool, system information, tools, and then system configuration utility. Justin
 
using MSConfig is the easiest way. Don't worry about unchecking anything, the only thing that will automatically return is "systray", so you may as well leave it. It's also a good idea to leave scanreg.
