Hey folks. We are using MDaemon v.8.0.2. I have a user that regularly checks his email out of the office. He is now unable to check the account and is receiving a message that says the request to the server timed out.

On the mail server I am seeing a lot of attempts to connect that are blocked by Tarpit/IP Screen and I beleive one of the addresses is coming from the router that's getting him out of the network where he is. I am not familiar with Tarpit/IP Screen besides knowing that it blocks suspect IP addresses. Is there a way to have MDaemon allow a single IP that it keeps blocking by this method?

Thanks for all advice.

You can use whitelisting for an IP address (or a whole subnet if you need to). This will bypass all the spam checking entirely when that IP connects. After you whitelist the IP address, I suspect you'll need to weed through the list of IP Screening and delete the address from there. Last I checked it doesn't automatically remove an address from the one place when you add it to the whitelist.

Note that you can also turn on SMTP Auth which may be a bit more secure, since it will allow just his account to come in. If that doesn't do the job, have a look at the log files - MDaemon's logs are quite good and usually make it easy to diagnose problems.

Thanks for the tips jpm121. You were a big help!
