I'm trying to target an mc in the main movie (level 0..??) from within an mc on a loaded movie....

How do I do this? funkymonk B-)

I think you may need to use javascript to acomplish this do it in the same way you would use javascript in a page to interact with the main movie.

If anyone else nows a better way: old, virt, wang, dave... Regards

_level0.mc_instance's_name.play();
// or whatever action at the end!

It's ok, I sorted it about 20 minutes after I posted, couldn't get back into the site to say though.

Cheers for answering..... funkymonk B-)

One more question about this, well, not really about this but part of it. When giving a movie clip instance a name, I've found that I get problems with targeting if I use a dash (-) within the name. Is there a particular reason for this? funkymonk B-)

Flash will try and parse this as a minus sign, that's all.

....unless you use 'setProperty' to manipulate it.

I have had this problem as well and now resort to an underscore _ instead. Ya' Gotta Love It!

I started using underscores_ then switched to dashes - .... silly mistake be a learning one. funkymonk B-)
