Hello,

I have target tables that I want to import from two different databases but have the same name. The tables have the same name because one is for development, the other for production. Is there a way to import both of the tables without renaming one of the tables?

If I rename one of the tables, Informatica will look for the renamed table in the database instead of the actual table name. For example, I have TableA that exists in db_dev and db_prod. TableA from db_prod already exists in Informatica. I want to import TableA from db_prod. Informatica prompts me to rename TableA. If I rename this to TableA_2, then Informatica will look for TableA_2 in db_prod.

Any workaround for this? I appreciate any help anyone can provide. I'm using INFA 7.1 on Windows 2000.

Thanks,
Sally

A sure workaround is to have two read-only database views created with different names for the tables. For a DBA this is a 5-minute job and by using the database views as source you have a work-around for the rename-thing......
