Target records not updated - and no map/card error!

Hi Everyone,

I have a straight-forward map that runs (as a timed event) under the Event Server (version 6.5.2) and targets a table in a SQL 2000 server. Once updated, the map then proceeds to "flag" the transferred record in the source file, located on the AS/400. The map is set to burst 100 records and update them after they have been transferred, for overall performance optimization.

The problem is that, now and then, a record will not be updated on the Target side, but flagged as processed on the Source side. This error only happens sporadically and not too often. According to the business analyst, however, this is occurring more often and/or has become more noticeable since there are more and more users using the application that runs on the SQL 2000 server.

No errors are recorded in the audit log and apparently everything runs fine.

If this has ever happened to you before, or you think you might know what might be the problem, please help a fellow programmer out! All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all.

This is my first entry to the discussion group, so if I don't provide sufficient details I will be more than happy to include them in a subsequent thread.

Have you chedked the database trace file from Mercator for errors?

janhes,

Yes. The trace file shows no errors. In fact, I even checked the SQL trace (through the ODBC feature) and it contains no errors.

Hi everyone,

I figured out the problem. The problem is that the card in question had an adapter command of "-UPDATE ONLY" and the key fields defined in the database query (.mdq) file weren't matching up. Hence, when the keys didn't match, since no insert was allowed, the card didn't fail yet it didn't execute either.

Thanks all the same for your help.
