mics 6.0 w/asm,the first port off of the asm is ext 2269,assigned trunk 177 target line(DID 2269) when called from outside it rings in fine, the fax answers. But while it is busy and another fax comes in on xxx-2269I want it to give busy tone, but instead it rings 4 times then goes to gen del vm.the line is set up to be private to ext 2269. call forward to: none,if busy:busytone,1 appearance of target line.1 intercom button.when busy it still RNA to vm.what am I missing??

We had the CO program the Fax DID to only alow one call.

I'll call the co tomorrow,thanks...do you see anything that I'm missing in programming?

In target line set the prime to none and make the trunks prim to none. Not sure what version but you st it to return a busy in the target.

There are 2 cases that need to be handled:
[ul]
[li]The fax machine is busy receiving a fax and another call comes in.[/li]
[li]The fax machine is busy sending a fax and a call comes in.[/li]
[/ul]

Depending on how your PRI trunk is configured, the CO may not be able to handle the latter case. Also, some telcos charge fees for making changes to the call routing. It might be better (and cheaper) to program your Norstar system so it manages these cases itself.

Here is what you need to check on Extension 2269:
[ol 1]
[li]Make sure there is only one Intercom button assigned to the set. (It should already be the case.)[/li]
[li]Make sure Target Line 177 is assigned to Ring Only (so only one call can ring on the single Intercom button).[/li]
[li]Make sure DND on Busy is turned on (so only one call can be treated at a time).[/li]
[li]Make sure Forward on Busy is turned off. (It should already be the case.)[/li]
[li]Make sure Forward No Answer is set to None. (It should already be the case.)[/li]
[/ol]

Here is what you need to check for Target Line 177:
[ol 1]
[li]Make sure the Prime Set is set to None (so the calls don't ring anywhere else and aren't rerouted by the Delayed Ring Transfer feature).[/li]
[li]Make sure the If Busy setting is set to Busy Tone. (It should already be the case.)[/li]
[/ol]

Unless you want to reject calls that aren't mapped on any target line, there is no need to remove the Prime Set for the trunk.
