tar ends with eot storing a large file to 9840 with fibre

Hello!

An unexplainable effect occurs during a "normal" tar on a 9840 tape with fc access to a hp v-class server.
It must be a problem with large files i.e. a 100mb file, generates the following message:
Tar: unable to auto load next media.
Tar: to continue, enter device/file name when ready or null string to quit.
But the tape is not at it's end!

Someone with an idea?

I suspect that some variable is declaring the tape to be only of a certain length........send me a copy of the st.conf file.
