Hello,

I am trying to set a Tapit system up on my Norstar telephone system. The problem, I cannot even get feedback from the hyperterminal. The program requires I communicate this way before I install the Tapit Accounting software. I am using a Norstar SMDR6, but didn't set it up and know nothing about it. Our phone vendor plugged an outside line into the phone port and the line port was left open on the back of the SMDR6. I have the COM cable plugged in to the SMDR6 and the computer. The book is asking for PBX specifications, I don't know this. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.

1ST THE ONLY CONNECTIONS THAT SHOULD BE ON THE SMDR6 ARE THE RS232 TO THE COMPUTER AND A LINE CORD GOING TO A PORT OFF THE N*. THEN YOU CAN SET THE SOFTWARE UP FOR NORTEL FORMAT SET YOU BAUD RATE PARITY AND YOUR RAEDY TO GO

An easy way of looking at installing an SMDR is to plug the cord from any digital phone into the digital port, (square icon) then plug the phone into the SMDR jack that shows the (phone icon). You don't have to have an extra port off of the KSU for the SMDR. Kind of nice that you can locate it any place.
