You will need a 3.2 cleaning tape. Enter the command remove tape then insert then cleaning tape into the drive. Enter the test tape clean command this should clear the alarm. If this doesn't work then the backup tape in the drive has been used too many times and will be rejected by the audix whenever you try to backup to it. Everytime you run a backup on any tape the audix will count how many times the tape has been backed up to, if the backup count has exceeded it's limit then the audix will refuse to back up to the tape.
I used to get this error all the time. Two long term things to think about/get checked. 1) Your tapes themselves. If you have a service contract then get them to replace the tapes 2) If the errors keep comming up and your attend. gets an error message you may need to get the tape drive itself replaced.
mind you I endured these errors periodically over the span of a year before I called in Avaya to replace the tape drive.
In the short term. These are the instructions I got from Avaya:
rem tap
clean heads - optional (especailly if you just did it)
tes tap cl
add tap
tes tap lo
