E8020 Failed to inventory slot(s)

Problem:
After rebooting the NT4 server that has ArcServeIT 6.61 installed on it, and then attempting to inventory the slots on a PowerVault 120T DLT 4000 autoloader the inventory fails and the information written to the arcserve.log file is:
E8020 Failed to inventory slot(s)

One slot reads as "Empty" and that tape is still sitting in the picker.

Must physically use the autoloader mode panel to eject the picker. Then I can inventory the slots and all is well again.

Anybody have any suggestions? I can't find anything on this and installing SPA for 6.61 doesn't really sound appealing for autoloaders based on posts i've seen so far.

I had a similar problem on my PowerVault 120 DLT 7000. I removed all the tapes from the unit and shut Arcserve down. I then opened Arcserve backup up and re-inventoried. All has been fine since then. If your problem continues you might try reloading Arcserve or at least reload the tape library option. I have seen some weird problems with the tape library piece. Good Luck.
