Hi There,
Do any one know how to check DLT tape size using Arcserve 2000. For Example if we use a tape to backup some data , then later we would like to know what is balance capacity of the Tape.

Open the arcserve log, after each job or session the total amount of data written to tape is entered into the log file. From this you can deduce the amount of tape remaining, however, not all backup jobs will have the same compression ratio (i.e large number of small files write many file marks to tape). As a rule of thumb 2 times compression is unrealistic, it is more like 1.5 times. So for a dlt 20/40 you will get about 30 gig.

I'm not sure if data written to tape is committed to the arcserve database. I will take a look at an arcserve sql database to see if that info is available.

If this helps give me a vote. Thanks.
