What is the best way to handle a weekly offsite tape rotation, when the task has to be handled by a non-technical end user?

The user has the Commcell console installed on his workstation. He will have to remove the last full backup from the tape library every Friday and return the previous one on Mondays.

How should the user be taught to determine the proper tape to take home (using reports or whatever)?

Once this is determined can the tape just be unloaded from the library, or does it have to be exported or anything else? What about returning the tape back to the library?

what tape hardware do you use, wich version of Galaxy ??

regards

You could create an automated email to tell the user which tape to change

what type of report will tell the user which tape to change?

If the user has the VaultTracker option (which I highly, highly recommend), they can simply create a schedule that will export the tape(s) each Friday. They then simply collect the exported tape.

schedule a media information report that just includes the SP's that you are interested in.

Export the tape when removing it and then when you put it back in the library Galaxy should auto import it
