tape restores folders but not files within those folders.

I bought 2 seagate 4 gig drives together in UK. One for my PC in Thailand and the other for the one in UK. Took back- up from UK to Thailand and it only restored the folders and not any files at all within them. In Thailand I checked and restored all info to the Thai PC to ensure it wasnt me doing something stupid. Files within the folders came back, no problem. Home I come to the UK with my tape from Thailand and it restores all the folders and only a handful of files to some folders with nothing at all in others.
Windows 98 version 2 both PC,s.
As for outlook express the tape seems to contain no info at all. I believe the info is on the tape but I can not get at it.
Any ideas please??

Sorry did not mean to red flag the reply. Will try to remove flag. I did check the box for sub folders and the info was there in Thailand so should not be that.
