Error I am getting:
\\.\Tape1 read open error, The divce is not ready
\\.\Tape1 ejected

then it unlabels

Using:
NT4 sp6a
Legato 6.0.1
HP surestore 2/20

I am using old tapes and it will not mount to a device
Thsi after I label it

Is it because I and using a tape that has a bit that will not let me mount or over write?

Thanks

The times that I have seen this error, it has always required a server restart. I think it is due to a miscommunication with the scsi device at the OS level.

Stopping and restarting the services had no effect, though I never checked to see if all processes stopped after stopping he services. You may try that.

Check your SCSI id of the drive ( Use "Inquire" command). Make sure Windows has the same id info. Has this installation worked before and now has stop working? Make sure you are using the right SCSI cables. You should be able to label any tape regardless whether its old or new. Check to see if Legato supports this type of drive and the correct driver is loaded in Windows. Let us know what fixes it. Thanks.

We have the same and we put it down to old tapes . You may want to check the firware level of the tape drives. This did reduce some of our problems with read open errors

Yes it used to work and now tape will not mount to one of my device. it does mount to the other device.

This prevents me from cloning my tapes because I need to devices to clone.
firmware is find

I am disabling the device that is having problem to get around this for now.

We have now fixed all our read open errors by changing the load sleep setting in the jukebox configuration field. Default setting is 5, changing it to 200 and all our problems have gone away.
