Hi all,

We're using backup exec and a seagate tape drive as backup system. The drive does not accept any of the tapes that I try to use, so I'm wondering if the tapes are the right kind. The tape drive type is STT20000N. The tape type is Travan 20 gB NS, QIC TR-5. In Backup Exec, the option 'mini cartride' is chosen as tape type. I checked the internet and mini cartridges look different than the tapes we're using now. Any help would be much appreciated.

Greetings, Dutch :)

Hi, Dutch. I have the same problem. I use a Seagate drive and the exact same tapes as you and I get "unrecognisable media" messages in the morning and have to abort the previous night's backup. I'm still searching for answers though. Hope someone helps out soon.

Hi Juliet,

it turned out that the tapes were okay, but the tapedrive itself was damaged by dust. When the tapedrive was replaced the problem no longer existed.

Greetings, Dutch
