Hello,

I need some advice:

I have a server running BAB v9 and I have 42 jobs that run each night.
I use an LTO library with 2 drives and alot of slots. There are 4 LTO tapes used each night.

Last night there were tapes with serial numbers 69,70,71,72.

69 was in drive 1 and 70 was in drive 2. When 69 filled it used tape 71. But when 70 filled it used tape 69..this is not good.

How else can I set this up..any advice would be great. To prevent overwrites.

Cheers,

ronnie

Ronnie,

there are many ways to prevent media from being used for the wrong job. You can group the slots in the library using 'device group configuration'and have both jobs use different slot groups or you can use rotation schemes in the job settings.
Check the manuals on how to set this up

Hi
You can prevent tapes from being overwritten by using Media Pools and specify a retention period so it won't overwrite the tape until retention period get expired

Assigning tape to a Media pools happening only when you format the tapes.
