I have a server that is running Backup Exec 7.11 Revision 4.106 and it keeps erroring the tape saying "A Media error has been encountered. No more data can be appended to this tape. The data on the tape prior to the location of the error can be read and restored. Please correct the condition by replacing the tape." I have gone thru all the overwrite settings and it even says 'Tape Status: Overwrite'. We have tried cleaning the drive, using a different tape and using a blank tape all saying the same thing. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

There is a different overwrite for tapes than the one in the options on a backup job. When you install Backup EXEC it asks you if you want to overwrite previous backup jobs.

maybe this is your problem as it was mine after I did a HDD change and cloned the old HDD backup exec started causing problems so I reinstalled.

It sounds like something is wrong with your tape drive and is damaging the tapes.
