Hi

Can anyone explain (simply) how to configure Arcserve (6.61) to accept ANY tape for a scheduled backup. I seem to remember that it was possible to run tapetest to format? or erase? the tape immediately prior to running the backup. I've lost the information. Is there a better way of doing it. All tapes are clearly labelled but sometimes the required one is offsite and it would be nice to use any tape.

The site is only a small one with a single tape drive and 14 tapes working on a 2 week cycle. The administrator just doesn't seem to be able to get his head around the problem

Regards

John

Hi John - i'm not an Arcserve expert, but i think if you edit the job, on the destination tab, have an asterisk for "media". i've never used tape rotation before, we have a very simple setup, 15 tapes....so there's no need for tape rotation. Maybe i shed some light on this for you, hope so.....
take care,
Mike
