Is there anyway to track or create a tape CRC error report?

According to Legato documentation, use scanner command with -n option:
"When used with the ?i option, this option provides the most complete media checking available, while not modifying the
databases at all."
for example: scanner -n -i \\.\Tape

What I'm looking for is to report CRC errors on tapes that have been run on my nightly backups. The errors are available in the deamon.log if you scan the file (which is fairly large). I was hoping that I could automate the report running it against my last night’s backup in my 600 slot ATL and email it daily with my other reports. I believe scanner only works if you want to actively validate the tape (usually will take 4 to 5 hours for a 320 SDLT to physically run on the media) not really applicable for a big silo.

Do you have a script the pares the deamon.log for last nights CRC errors?

OK I see what you want, but it depends on the OS...

Windows: CRC errors are logged in the eventlog
Unix: CRC error are logged in the system log.

If you want to use daemon.log:
Windows: find "error" daemon.log
Unix: grep "error" daemon.log

I don't have a script to parse only last night errors;
My point of view is that hardware problems should be detected at OS level.
