I running Veritas backup exec 9.0 on my sbs2000 dell 2500 with raid 5 server. The I have an internal tape backup device that is always getting stuck and not ejecting. The only way to solve the problem is to open up the server and disconnect the scsi cable in back of the internal tape backup device. Is there a solution for this problem? Can somebody please help me? I greatly appreciate it.

what type of tape drive is it ? if it is a DDS drive, see if you can upgrade to a DLT drive for more capcity and reliability

yes theScien is right, if you still have the Dell service, and if you got the tape drive from Dell, might as well get it replace while its covered,

for server back, I wouldn't wait for the tape back device to be fixed or replaced since it need to be used everyday for a functional server

There was some firmware recently released on Dell's web site to address eject failures on the tape drives. Listed below are the file names for the latest firmware.

DDS4: DDS4_Update.EXE
VS80: R62854.EXE
