I'm running ArcServe 2000AE with service pack 4 on a WinNT 4.0 SP 6a box. Library is a Quantum ATL PowerStor L500. I'm using a GFS rotation scheme. I'm getting a sporadic problem. My daily backups are working fine, but Arcserve can't seem to access my weekly media pool. If I inventory the tapes in that pool they show up from then on as "updating". If I go to inventory again, or format, those tapes don't even show up in the list. I have to restart all the ArcServe services to get visibility of those tapes back. Has anyone seen this type of behavior before?

Hello
Check the certified device list of CA for ARCserve 2000 whether the library is certified or not. Ensure that the library is updated with the firmware and the scsi drivers. Run the device configuration for an auto config. You can also hope for best by deleting the 'tape engine' key from regedt32/hklm/sw/ca/arcserveit/base - tape engine.

hope this helps.
