HI, Im running veritas 8.5 for netware and i got the following error message

Tape Function terminated by prompt timeout

since then backup's have failed but i have no indication that they have failed in the job history,

Any Ideas?

It sounds like Veritas has trouble talking to the tape drive. Is the device offline? (look in the Device tab)

You can try:

1. stopping Backup Exec services, rebooting the tape device, start Backup Exec services.

if that doesn't work,
2. reload the driver for the tape device.

sounds like Netware has possibly lost the tape device.
Do a bestop.
from the netware console -
- List storage adapters - does it show the tape device?
if not.
- Scan for new devices
- List devices

Does it show the tape drive?
if not.
Restart the server.
Again use the commands above to make sure netware is seeing the tape device.

I'm running into the same problem. I'm on Netware 5.1sp6 using bkup exec 8.5 build 194. Running list devices and loading config, the tape drive is not listed. If I type SCAN FOR NEW DEVICES at the console the server says an error has occured and reboots itself.
