Tape filling up early????

Hi,

System I using:

Win2K server + SP3
ARCserve 2000 SP4 (server and clients)
HP LTO 1/9 Ultrium tape drive

Any ideas why I am starting to have an issue with tape space not being used correctly? I have a directory that is 36.4GB and I am using a 100GB Ultrium Tape. Arcserve is requesting a second tape for this job?!?.

I usually use 200GB tapes but a few 100GB were purchased by accident to I thought i would use them for some small 1 off backups.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

HP does not list a LTO 1/9 tape drive they do list a 1/9 library, and four different model Ultrium drives. As for tapes they do not list any 100gb tapes only 200 and 400gb tapes. It just might be that the 100gb tape is not compatable with the HP drive.

It also is a good idea to check the log and database to see what is recorded for the total number of megabytes written to the tape.

Default options in backups are append. PLease check this setting.
