Using Arcserve 2000 Advanced & a Dell PV122-T (DLT)
Any time I attempt to import or export a tape to my library it causes an inventory of the whole library which takes a little over 20 minutes. If there is a lot of activity (i.e. I export 6 tapes & then import 6 new ones) it usually gets confused & thinks that there is no media in some of the slots. The real kicker to this is that if I have a job running & I need to swap out a tape (for instance, right now...) it will either lock the drive or, if the drive is not locked, the act of changing the tape causes my currently running job to abort so it can take an inventory.
I know it's the tape engine 'cause if I stop the engine & go to manage the tapes the drive accepts them quietly.
I've tried the quick inventory option & it doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas?
Thanks
