TAPE EJECTS before verify is complete 1

NT 4(sp6),HP surestore 12/24 4mm,Backup Exec.7.2.........<br>
full server b/u w/verify,job runs and verifys from 40-98% then ejects tape..everynight<br>
,in the morning the job is pending,we reload the tape,it finishes during work hours,<br>
no errors,no one here at night........what causes this?????????

Is the tape full, therefore ejects itself ready for next tape?<br>
I know it is verifying, but BE is a funny old thing.

the problem is the tape is not full,there is only one tape involved in the back-up......

I am a consultant covering for a Net Admin having the same problem. The log states that it needs writeable/overwriteable media. However, rebooting the server will allow for one good backup before the same happens, so I do not think the media is to blame. Bad/dirty drive?

I got the insert writeable error in my log last week. Turns out that even though I had NO errors on the drive, the error meant that my drive was duff - I forget which part had gone. Sent it for maintenance and now it works like a treat.
