Hi,

I have an Adaptec 2940 SCSI Controller which is connect to an External HP DAT24 Tape Drive. If I have the tape drive connected then my OS will not boot, it just gets stuck at the Windows splash screen. Without it connected all is fine.

It is a dual boot machine and does the same in XP.

The tape drive has a termination block on the back of it.

Do I need to some how terminate my card as well?

Any ideas what is up?

Thanks in advance.

Is this only device (Dat drive) on your SCSI chain or are your sharing it with the server hard drive? Improper termination sound like the culprit. Also check the SCSI ID assigned to the tape drive to see that it doesn't conflict with any other device on the chain. Hope this helps.
