My past few backups (Backup Exec 8.5)have failed and given the following error messages in the log file. I have used cleaning cartridges at least once per week. Any ideas on what the problem is are welcome. Drive is a Compaq DDS3 12/24.

Device: COMPAQ 1 (SERVER)
The tape drive is having problems writing data. No data has been lost, but there has been a reduction in the capacity of the tape.

Your data is at risk:
1. Copy any data you require from this tape.
2. Do not use this tape again.
3. Restart the operation with a different tape.

DDS3's are prone to stretching the tapes - have you replaced the tapes recently?

Would recommend doing it.
