Tape Drive problem (compression?)

Hi folks,

we do a nightly backup using ufsdump and the /dev/rmt/Ocb device. It has recently started to complain about reaching the end of the tape, though there is not much more data (say 200 Mb) than previously and I can't see that this would cause the problem. I'm wondering whether the drive isn't recognising the compression - does anyone have any experience or ideas about how to check this, please? TIA.
