tape drive not recognized...help!

Hello all...
I just recieved a dell powervault to connect to our dell poweredge 2650 server, running server 2003. I have the scsi cable connected to the server but the server does not recognize the drive. What are the steps I would take to have the server recognize the tape backup?
Please Help!!

check your termination and scsi type for a start, SE/LVD/HVD ? check your cable length apart from that you're looking at HBA driver.
