Does anyonne have a recomendation on tape devices these days. We always used to use scsi 4mm dat, but these are expensive these days and dont have the capacity to backup the bigger hard disks.

is there a cheaper ide based option out there ( like all the micro$oft stuff can use)

cheers

I've never put an IDE tape drive into production, even on Windows. They're incredibly slow, and I question the quality of the hardware.
