We seem to be having continual problems with the tape drive on a E3500 Solaris 8. mt status reports /dev/rmt/0 No such file or directory. Removed all links under /dev/rmt. All SCSI connections sound. boot -r has no effect. tapes has no effect. devfsadm -c tapes has no effect. probe-scsi-all hangs and we need to power down to get the machine back. Any ideas? Faulty tape drive/SCSI problems?

Greg.

I don't mess with many tape devices, but have you doubled checked your SCSI ids?
