Will ARCserve allow you to copy tapes between different drives and media types? I have an Exabyte Mammoth II drive and 2 years worth of tapes I need to copy to my new Exabyte 110L LTO Tape Library drive. I want to avoid purchasing additional software if it is possible.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

If you can daisy-chain the drives onto one server then give it a try.

This is not an option in my situation. Does anyone else have any suggestions besides buying $1000 software? Thanks!

Cyklops,

Brilliant paper. It worked like a charm! For those who are trying to perform this task in the future, here is the command line I used to do so:

tapecopy -s(Source Tape Group) -d(Desination Tape Group) -t(Source Tape Name)

So, my actual command line was:

tapecopy -sM2 -dLTO -t"Month End April 2002"

Use the quotes if you have spaces in the source tape name or you will error out. Also, by not specifying the desitination tape name, it automatically gives it the source tape name.

Cheers
