tape compatibility details

hi,
Recently we had problem with sony 5010 external scsi tape drive 4/8gb. we replaced with hp c1599a 4/8gb tape drive. After configuring on RS 6000 PCI server . it is not working. But we have checked with other sony drive, the system and scsi interface are all working fine. Am feeling some compatibility problem.

If you have any details about the compatibilty chart for RS 6000 SERVER TAPE SUPPORT LIST. Please let me know.

I have seen a lot of hassle with not buying IBM tape drives...but

the following sheets, show support for AIX.....BUT BE CAREFUL if you do decide to buy a third party drive. ASK them specifically if it will run on AIX 5.1 or AIX 4.3.3 . If the answer is no......beware.
