Tape Backup Recommendations

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a decent DLT Tape Drive manufacturer?
We currently run backups onto a tape library and just need one extra drive at a remote site to read both DLT3 and DLT4 tapes to periodically restore data at the remote site.

Also, we are currently using ARCServe6 which is probably what will be used at the remote site. Does anyone recommend any other backup software? How is Backup Exec?This is a NetWare 4.11/5x environment.

First off, there is only one tape drive manufacturer per se' : Quantum. They own the DLT patent.

They have licensed other vendors to build the units, but they all are within the patent that Quantum holds.

Some DLT vendors are: ADIC, Qualstar, IBM, Cybernetics, HP.

Software ? That is up to you. It is dependent on your needs. Keep in mind that whatever you use, will be incompatible with other backup software. I like Syncsort Backup Express.
