We are using ArcserveIT 6.6 on Netware 5. Everytime we do a backup after a certain time we get an error message saying "Tape is full, please mount a tape". The thing is these are new 20GB tapes and the data is only 4 GB. Also if we choose to do rotation backup we get a message "Tape not found" Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks

To be blunt, stop appending to the media. the default option for arcserve is to append. You need to go to backup options and choose something like "Overwrite same media or blank media". As for "Tape not found" on Auto Pilot, you need to insert blank [unformatted] media untill the media pool kicks in on the ol recycling thing [and starts asking for specific media names]. At the end of this could i suggest that you read the manual [in pdf form on the cd-rom] in x:\docs\productname [x=cd-rom drive letter].

Hope this helps

I am having a very similiar issue, but I have gone into modify the job, have checked the overwrite options, saved my changes, scheduled the job, and in a day or two the backup will fail again. When I 'look' at the media options, the append option is checked , again? Any further ideas? Thanks.

Try resubmitting a new job with the overwrite option set, delete the old job. -----------------------------------------------------
