Hi :) I've been getting the error "tape access reached a filemark" with some of my backups lately. Somebody suggested that the tapes were full and that i hadn't set veritas up properly to overwrite the media...so i double checked and have set it up as follows:
Overwrite media
NORMAL - back up files - reset archive bit
It's been running fine for months, this has started happening lately with different tapes..the backup jobs are failing because of this...any ideas?!
I also noticed when i had to restore some files the other day that even though when the backups are (supposedly) successful, the files that i wanted to restore weren't there, dates were missing from the tapes!!! HELP :)

Chris,
We are having the same problem. The backups run fine for several days but then
fail. When we restore files, you can bet the backup will fail then next day or more. Then
it seems to get back on track and work. Sometimes it seems that manually starting the backup will cause the proble to go away, but only until the one after the next restore.
I have managed to figure out that the message "A tape access reached A filemark" is a standard Windows32 API error message but that is all.
We are using a Sony SDT-9000 tape drive on an IBM Netfinity 3600 Server running 2000 Server SP1.
Please let me know if you find anything out.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff Hafer
