Hi all,

I hope you can help me.

I have a customer running Arcserve v6.61 for NT4, they backup using a Tangberg SLR32 tape drive with the correct tapes. This drive should backup 16/32gb of data.

However Arcserve is seeing this drive as a Tangberg MLR1 drive which only holds 13/26gb of data. And as they are backing up over 22gb of data the tapes are starting to fill up.

I've looked around for a Arcserve Tandberg SLR32 driver, but not had much luck. The NT drivers have been tried by one of mu collegues with no luck.

So does anyone have the appropiate driver or know where I get hold of one??

TIA,

Paul

If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!

ARCserve doesn't use the NT drivers when working with storage devices. The tape engine service works directly with the device. So you don't need a special driver for ARCserve to use the drive, but it has to be visible through the o/s for ARCserve to see it.

Tandberg SLR32 is listed as a supported device for ARCserveIT 6.61. See Just make sure that you are running with the lastest device patch.

I believe you can force the tape engine to rediscover the devices by stopping the tape engine, deleting the key HKLM\Software\ComputerAssciates\ARCserveIT\Base\TapeEngine and restart the tape engine. If you try this, export the original TapeEngine subtree just in case you need to get it back.
