These issues are not issues I have personally encountered to know exactly what the cause is, but I know of 3 instances where Online Armor caused various issues on 3 computers:
[OL][LI](this is one I "re-setup" for a customer). It was practically a brand new eMachine PC. It worked flawlessly so long as I was there.
Then, out of the blue, the customer calls and says that they got these prompts/messages/warnings from Online Armor, and for whatever reason they restarted their PC, and then Windows is telling them that some major system change had occurred, and that their license code for Windows would have to be re-entered and re-activated.
To the best of my knowledge so far, I removed Online Armor, and just setup the default Windows Firewall, and they've had no problems at all.[/LI]
[LI]I suggested OA to a friend of mine who has 4 computers at home, all running Windows Vista, I believe. Well, he tried Online Armor on 2 of the computers, and it did not work correctly on either, causing some instability issues (if I remember correctly - he's the type who doesn't tell much, and quickly just decides to toss anything he thinks doesn't work). I can't know for sure on that one if it were just operator error or a glitch in the program.[/LI][/OL]
So in both cases (or all 3, depending upon how you look at it), the only things that I know are consistent are:
1. Windows Vista (I think Home Premium on all, I know was on the one I messed with.
2. Reasonably New Computers
3. No problems before Online Armor, problems during Online Armor, and no problems after Online Armor.
Prior to that, I had not known of any issues with Online Armor, other than the typical prompts to allow/block certain things, typical for any software firewall. And other than during program installations, Online Armor had fewer than most I had seen through the years.
So, with that in mind, I thought I'd ask around to see if anyone here knows of any issues with Online Armor, or has heard anything of the sort. A quick Google search didn't turn up any reported issues anywhere.
This is not for the specific situations, b/c as far as I know, all is well now, and the people have no plans on even looking at Online Armor again (I could understand myself, if it had been my only encounters with it).
Any thoughts, points of reference, etc?
