If connected to Meridian remotely, is there any way we could 'step back' to interact only with the modem? We are looking to interrogate the settings of the modem.

Any advise would be appreciated.

depends on how the modem is configured and if it's capable of doing this. check on the USRobotics web iste

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Reg

The contents of the s2 register will give you the ASCI decimal code for the escape character. If it is set to 43 then the character is +

Given the character is +
Type +++ to interogate the modem and ATO to return to data stream.

dughard, that will interogate the local modem.

opt11, if you want to mess with the remote modem, it depends on the make and the config. Telebit modems had that capablility, but you had to enable it and it wouldn't stay enabled across a power cycle, for security.

You want to know the connection settings or something else? I know Reflections tells you , if you choose to monitor the connection, how fast it connected.
