SCO Openserver 5, started about 3 days ago taking, at times, up to 5 minutes or so to print something to various printers. Disk space is fine. I've stopped and restarted scheduler. I can print directly to the device no problem. Something is going on with scheduler I believe but not sure what. any ideas?

I have/had the same problem. I hasen´t occured lately but If you find out what the problem is, please post it here.

I have some questions for you, who might help me with mine/our problem.

Is the printer connected to a computer (lpt), directly to the network (built-in NIC) or a print-server (HP Jetdirect, axis)?

Do your printjobs ever go through a router?

Do you have the freedom to take the system down. I've seen several occurances where rebooting cleared wierd scheduler problems. Ed Fair

Hi,

This is for a customer of ours and the printer I believe is hooked up through a port server (Digi). I was able to print directly to the device and it printed immediately

ie cat file > /dev/ttyp23 (don't recall exact tty address).

That is why I thought it was the scheduler causing a problem. Ended up I went into the /usr/spool/lp/admin/inderfaces and #ed out the If statement that pauses 5 seconds to print. This seemed to work on that printer at least at the moment.
