Hello,
I’m looking for a little help.
(Background)
I play DVDs through my PC. While the video is very good, the audio could be better.
I found that the limitation is a Windows “feature” called kmixer. Kmixer resamples the audio before sending it to the sound card. So even though the M-Audio 410 soundcard is capable of delivering crystal clear audio, this Windows “feature” won’t let it.
ASIO is the answer to the problem. It bypasses kmixer so the audio goes directly to any ASIO capable soundcard. It works wonders for 2-channel music (Winamp + ASIO plug-in). But no such plug-in exists for multichannel audio.
(Problem)
I found a piece of software that plays DVDs and uses Directshow render filters.
The programmer would like to add ASIO support but doesn’t know how to create the needed Directshow render filter.
Does anyone know how to create a Directshow ASIO render filter? It would have to be able to output multichannel audio to the analog outs of a multichannel soundcard.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Respectfully,
B
