Our fax is not working most of the times because when the fax answers, the auto attendant picks up and also there is a fax tone on the line. We have 6 lines coming in and all are answered by the same autpo attendant. Is there a way to take fax line off of the auto attendant? Or anything else that would correct this?

Take out fax line from auto attendant

The fax line should not be assigned to the autoattendant - but routed directly to the fax machine. If the AA answers immediately - then simply remove that line from Grp Calling, Lines/Pools, 770 (or whatever the voicemail calling grp# is) and press enter - now keyin the fax line# and press delete.
If you do want to route it to the autoattendant - then you need to program the extention# of the fax machine (under system parameters in voicemail admin) - so that the AA knows where to route fax calls.

Sanjiv: Does the autoattendant answer calls immediately - or is there a delay? What type of voicemail (007 MLM, Merlin Messaging?). How do you dial into voicemail(intercom 770?). Where is the fax machine connected? Directly to a phone line? to an extention port on the system? I need some basic setup information from you - to help you.

Autoattendant answers the calls immediately. Its merlin messaging and we dial 770 for voice-mail. Fax machine is connected directly to a phone line.
Actually, we have 6 analog lines coming to the PBX. All lines are answered by autoattendant and the fax machine is connected to Line 6.

Then - get into system programming: Menu, system program, start/exit, extentions, more, group calling, line/pool, keyin 770 and press enter, keyin 806 and press delete - then press your Inspect button to make sure only lines 801 thru 805 display. Press Home to exit
You may also need to remove line 806 from Night Service. Press menu, system program, start/exit, night service, group assign, lines, keyin operator ext# and press enter, keyin 806 and press delete. Press Inspect to make sure only lines 801 thru 805 display. Press Home to exit.
